Night Shoots

Every now and then I have some free time after the sun has gone down, simply to wander around and see what looks good under moonlight or streetlights.

Tonight I was on my way to a mates place and saw the Tasman bridge against a  wonderful dark-blue sky.

There was another person who arrived a minute after i’d setup the tripod and taken a couple of shots, who decided to try and take some photo’s of the same scene with a point and shoot and with the flash on.

I wonder how his turned out??

Nice stars, nice exposure, maybe a little too much empty space in the right of the frame?

    p&s + auto flash – knowhow = LOLZ

Cheers for the pointer nige, yeah, i tired a few different things to minimise it, i was about to fall into the water as i was so close to the RH edge of the land. There was a distracting brightly lit pillar to the left of frame too (although i could have PS’d it out a bit) it’s all a learning curve and the tips are damn helpful
i also lost the top of that first light too!!

yeah its hard to say things like that about composition when you dont know whats just out of the frame 😉 This might make a good square crop?

yeah, i had a little play with it last night,
removed about 2/3 of the black space on the right, and about half of the black space at the bottom, a lttle cropping, dodging and cloning takes care of the light too…
    forgot to upload it though….

Oh, here’s the final version that I’m quite happy with now.
It’s no masterpiece, but it’s been a learning experience anyway
